Insta Weekend: The Joys of Having a Cold

Hey everyone. I hope you all had a great weekend. I had a super sucky weekend as I spent 90% on the couch and in bed with a stupid summer cold.

Since I was pretty much confined to my house (I wouldn't dare giving this to anyone else besides my sweet husband), I managed to keep myself entertained during the few hours I was awake.

From my experience, here is how to stay somewhat sane during an awful summer cold:

1. Sock Bun it up!

This one lasted through three different naps. Impressive!

When you are laying down most of the time and your hair is as crazy as mine, the only way to keep it somewhat cute is a sock bun. Besides the fact that it looks better the dirtier your hair is, it is actually really comfy to sleep on/in. It's much softer than a real bun and stays in place. I lived in sock buns all weekend.

2. Take silly pictures of your pet wearing jewelry.

Kona is a fun dog in that she will let you put anything on her. She recently grew out of her collar (little fatty) and can be a bit manly without something pink on her. So what to do? Grab a bright pink lace necklace and put it on her. She didn't hate it but she did try to eat it a few times. How pretty did she look??

3. Catch up on TV & watch dumb movies (with your pets, of course)

I recently started watching Girls and only had 4 episodes left so Kirin and I spent most of Sunday finishing the last season. We both thought it was good...a bit depressing but good. Of course, when that was over, we started watching girly movies. One classic we both enjoyed was Simply Irresistible with Sarah Michelle Gellar. Whenever I watch a movie, I like to IMDB it and read the trivia. I learned that this was the last movie Siskel reviewed before he died (he gave it a thumbs down) and that it was SMG's least favorite movie that she was in. Interesting, huh?

So I survived but still not feeling super hot so I apologize in advance if blogging is a little spotty this week.

One exciting thing to note today is the lovely Amber of Face IT Catalog is doing a lace necklace feature on her blog today (with a giveaway). Here's a peak of how she styled a raspberry lace necklace...

Isn't she gorgeous? Hop on over to her blog to say hi and enter to win a necklace of your choice!

Hope you all have a great Monday. Stay away from anyone who is sneezing and looks like they want to die. This cold is a serious bummer!

What do you do when you are sick to entertain yourselves and keep yourself from going stir crazy?
