What's in my Beach Bag
I wish I was lower maintenance when it comes to packing a beach bag, but truth is, I need a lot of stuff! There are just certain things I have to have with me at the beach / pool such as...
Maybelline Baby Lips - I am addicted to this stuff anyway and now they have one with sunscreen. It's a must have for the beach but for every day too!
Lululemon Swiftly Headband - You know I love Lulu everything but I especially love these Swiftly headbands because they are not too tight (I get headaches and dizzy from too-tight headbands) and they have grip so they stay put. They are just perfect for going down water slides, paddleboarding and body surfing - trust me!
Kindle Paperwhite - I read like a crazy person on vacation so a Kindle is a must - otherwise I would have to carry 4-5 books with me. The Paperwhite version is awesome for day reading and night reading since you can adjust the brightness. I got a pretty pink cover to protect it from the sand & sunscreen and to make it look cuter.
Magazines - Self explanatory I even did a mag trade with some nice ladies at the pool. I scored the Bazaar above and a recent US Weekly for my Self and Lucky mags!
Hat - Hats are key to keep the wrinkles away and give you a little shade when needed. I ended up getting a new trucker hat at Pakaloha (more on this later) so I alternated between that and my green Patagonia one.
Sunnies & Case - From my pics yesterday, you would think I only brought one pair of sunnies, but I actually brought 4 different pairs. I always bring two pool suitable pairs - older pairs that I don't mind getting wet or covered in sand. I always make sure to bring the case with me too because it's great for stashing my lip balm, hotel key, money and hand sanitizer (included but not pictured).
Water - No dehydration or sunstroke for this girl as long as this baby gets refilled OFTEN.
Baggu (bag and pouch) - If you have not seen these before, you are missing out. Baggus are reusable bags that you can use for anything. I love them for the beach since they are tough, durable, and most importantly washable! And they fold up into the little pouch pictured above so you can bring a few without and it won't take up room in your suitcase. Extra bonus...when the bag is used, you can put your iPhone in the little pouch for extra protection! Did I mention they are only $9 (cheaper if you buy more) and come in super cute colors & patterns like Seahorse and Electric Poppy?
Sunscreen (of course) - This time I kept SPF 30 on the whole time. I may not have gotten as tan as I usually do, but my skin thanked me for it!
Not pictured but still totally necessary for the pool/beach:
Conditioner and a Brush - I cover my head in conditioner before and after I swim to help protect it from the chlorine and salt water. It definitely helps my hair stay soft and not dry out. The brush is needed to tame my crazy curls - #curlyhairproblems
Maui Babe Browning Lotion (last day only) - This stuff is truly amazing. I mix it with sunscreen and only use it the last day. It helps darken and deepen your tan. The only issue I have is the smell...it smells like chocolate and coffee. When it gets hot in the sun and mixes with sweat, it is NOT pretty. The after browning lotion smells fantastic though. We use this every day during and for a couple weeks after our trip to help moisturize and prolong our tans. I would make this my every day lotion just because it smells so good!
My Mikini Bikini (not in my bag but rather on me)
Some of you may remember this post where I asked you guys which bikini I should get. I ended up getting the yellow and gray one and could not have been happier with it. I loved having a unique suit and got so many compliments on it. I saw so many of the same Victoria's Secret bikinis and I was so happy to have something different. I must note that the quality was amazing and the customer service at Mikini is awesome. I am definitely ordering more! If you do end up ordering one, note the textured lining can sometimes show through on the bottoms so I would recommend a basic color/non-textured lining - especially on the bottoms.
What is in your beach bag? What do you need to have with you at the beach/pool?

I always have sunscreen, water, something to read (either a magazine or a Kindle book), snacks, and my ipod! Oh and bobby pins since my hair usually starts getting crazy with the wind.

Since I haven't been to the beach in so long, I can't even remember what to pack! I would definitely pack a few books and a bottle of wine though if I were going. Nothing beats that!

Hope you had an absolute blast on your vacay! Good pick on the 'kini, Jill! The pattern and ties are too cute! I love that Hawaiin Tropic Sunscreen... smells so good and does not have that typical gross suntan lotion smell.
