Double Mint Double Bubbles and a Tiny Rant

Classy with a Kick: Mint Shorts

So this is an OOTD from over the weekend but I spent most of the week working from home in sweats so this is much better - trust me!

Before I left for Hawaii, Groopdealz had an awesome sale on bubble necklaces and I could not NOT get one. I mean, I know they are trendy but I still kind of love them and I haven't yet found a replacement for them (except for lace necklaces, of course). Anyway, for $9 each, I swooped up a light pink necklace and a mint one (as shown above). Not a bad price for something I might be sick of in a month or two! :)

As for the pave bracelet, that one is real - well, real as in an actual J. Crew - not real diamonds. However, now that I see so many great knockoffs, I am kind of bummed I spent so much money on mine. I saw GD had one for $25 and StyleLoveLiving has them in now - same price! I feel like I can justify the expensive one because I think this could be a piece that I will wear for a lot longer than a bubble necklace.

So as you can see, I have no issue buying knockoff styles, but I do have an issue with knockoff logo items or things with fake labels - like this..

Logo Knockoffs - NOT OK!

I'm sorry this just bugs me. I totally get knocking off "styles" but when it comes to logos - no way. If you are buying a logo item, buy the real one or don't buy it all. Please don't fake it! Those logos are there to signify brands or designers who usually produce high quality items and most fakes are really cheaply produced. What irks me the most is a knockoff logo item produced in a material or color that the real designer would NEVER use. Ugh.

I am truly sorry if you are into buying these types of knockoffs and I offended you, but coming from someone who has worked with many designers and has a marketing/branding background this just gets on my nerves. #EndRant

How do you feel about bubble necklaces and other trendy accessories? What are your thoughts on knockoffs?

  1. I totally agree with you on the logo knockoffs. I think people get tempted to buy them because the originals are often very expensive but it's just a blatant rip off.

  2. I love those pave bracelets. Yours will probably hold up longer in the end. I don't see a problem with making similar jewelry but slapping a designer logo on an item (which is a fake) is a different story. Cute outfit by the way!

  3. I totally agree. And I almost think that buying a knockoff of styles may not hold up as well either. I've bought the bubble necklaces off of Ebay and I have had to do a couple repairs on them so far. My friend has the real one from JCrew and hers is much more well made. BUT, I really don't like paying that much for daily/costume jewelry because the styles change so much.

  4. I agree! It happens all the time in my work. Women come in with fake Michael Kors bags, but I love your outfit especially the green shorts and the necklace.

  7. I completely agree with you with the whole fake logos rant. You can just tell when its not real and it usually looks terrible! But on a side note I am in love with your pave bracelet and have been on the hunt for a month for the perfect one!

  10. Love your mint shorts. Mint is currently one of my favorite colors.

I get (and totally do) buy similar styles of more expensive brands. But I don't understand buying stuff with fake logos. For one thing almost everyone can tell that it is fake.

  11. Love the mint on mint and I totally agree! Especially when it comes to costume jewelry - so many of the pieces sold at J. Crew, etc. were made in the same factories as the "knockoffs" anyway! But fake logos - no way!!

  12. I actually agree with you. I'm ok with knockoff styles but fake logos is just plain wrong!

  14. Agree with everything you said!!!! I'm loving bubble necklaces (I got mine in a tiny boutique in Boston), pave link bracelets ((I was DYING for the J.Crew one but couldn't bring myself to buy it & I'm glad I didn't bc I got one from BaubleBar)). BUT Exact brand logo knockoffs...come on! Why would you even want to wear something like that. I'd be afraid someone would actually call me out...embarrassing!
