Seaside Brunching

I love living in San Diego. Where else can you live in an urban downtown high rise building and be 10 minutes from the beach. And not just the beach...multiple beaches! My husband Jack and I made it a point to visit a beach every week last year and now that the weather is getting better, the challenge is on again.

This weekend we plan to take full advantage and hit up a few beach spots. Since it's Mother's Day and Jack's mom is coming into town, we have a few seaside dinners/lunches/brunches planned. I hate living far away from my Mom on Mother's Day but we have a little surprise for her up our sleeves (No Mom, we are not making a surprise trip out there, but hopefully you will know we are thinking of you!)

Seaside brunching is one of my favorite things. It's peaceful and calm and a great time to just take a deep breath and appreciate the natural scenery - with good food of course! It's also a great time to wear some of my favorite beachy pieces from my closet. It's still a little chilly here in SD and not yet warm enough for summer dresses but it's the perfect time to rock the white jeans, raffia sandals (I have a long term love affair with raffia platforms) and my new summery favorite - the linen sweater. Linen sweaters are lightweight and airy - perfect for this time of year. I highly recommend you pick one up...Nordstrom has some great ones; as does Banana Republic.

Notice, the pops of rose gold and yellow... San Diego has what's known as "May Gray" and "June Gloom" so colors & shiny metals help brighten everything up a bit!

What are your favorite beachy items or brunch staples?
