This weekend I spotted a cute gal literally running across the street in her 5+ inch heels. Now, I admit I am pretty skilled at walking - maybe doing a slight jog in platforms - but RUNNING across a downtown San Diego street with the potholes, pebbles, etc...um, NO thank you!
Anyway, her outfit caught my eye because it was so simple, yet stunning at the same time. Running in front of my car, I saw a sea of black (black top, black shorts) with a bright flash of red at the waist (a super cute red-patent skinny belt - I just love this Max Mara one!). I also loved that she was wearing neutral colored platforms - which is great for elongating legs by not cutting up the line between the end of the short and the foot. When you are wearing shorts, this is key - unless you are genetically blessed with long legs. In that case, I am jealous and don't like you very much...kidding!
Since I am on a neon kick and since I brought a stack of neon belts at H&M during my Vegas visit, I took inspiration from her and made it my own for my work outfit today. **Note, I wore a longer length short today for work, but on the weekend I would wear a shorter length like the one below. More leg = more fun!
Here you have it...Black with two flashes of Neon. Take that running girl!
Featured items - Black Blouse - Banana Republic, Shorts - J. Crew Factory (On Sale!), J Crew Bubble Necklace, YSL Sunnies, Tory Burch Continental Wallet & Michael Kors Watch - Nordstrom, Neon Skinny Belt - ASOS, Beige Pumps - Steve Madden
**Fashion tip - use a large wallet as a clutch! I have been using my Tory Burch wallet as a clutch and I love it! It fits an iphone, lipglass, gum and keys perfectly!
How do you dress up an all-black outfit? Do you wear shorts to work?

really love this outfit (:

Thanks Anna! :)
DeleteI love that outfit! I really want to splurge on one of those J.Crew necklaces, but I just can't bring myself to do it. It seems like the fashion blogger staple for summer 2012 though. Where do you make your sets at? I use polyvore and it's getting old quickly.
ReplyDeleteGlad I stumbled on this blog & I'll be following on bloglovin!

Thanks Bonnie! I'm following you too now!
DeleteI love the Bubble Necklaces...I find a way to wear them with almost everything! I do have a couple faux versions that are similar but don't cost as much. From fellow bloggers, I found that there are some on Etsy that are almost identical and about $20 less - http://www.etsy.com/shop/ilycouture?ref=seller_info.
For the sets, I mostly use Photoshop. I sometimes will make the set on Polyvore - they make it pretty easy - and then import the image into PS to finish it up and add text, borders, etc.
Have a great day!
xo,
